Personal, Possessive, and Reflexive Pronouns

PERSONAL PRONOUNS

What is a Personal Pronoun?

A personal pronoun is a pronoun that is associated primarily with a particular person, in the grammatical sense.
Personal Pronoun adalah kata ganti yang digunakan untuk orang, hewan, benda, atau hal secara spesifik. Bentuk kata ganti ini tergantung pada peran (subject, object, possessive), jumlah, orang ke-, dan gender dari noun yang digantikan.

Example :
  • Personal pronouns as Subject
YOU are my best friend. (Kamu adalah teman terbaikku.)
  • Personal pronouns as Object
Can you hear ME? (Dapatkah kamu mendengarku?)

POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS

Definition

A possessive pronoun is a pronoun that can take the place of a noun phrase to show ownership.
Possessive Pronoun adalah kata ganti yang berfungsi untuk menunjukkan kepemilikan.

Example :
  • Possessive pronouns as Subject:
MY flowers are really beautiful. (Bunga-bungaku sangat indah.)
  • Possessive pronouns as Object:
These pictures are MINE. (Gambar-gambar ini punyaku.)

REFLEXIVE PRONOUNS

What Are Reflexive Pronouns?

Reflexive pronouns are pronouns that refer back to the subject of the sentence or clause.
Reflexive Pronoun adalah kata ganti yang digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa subject (berupa orang atau hewan) menerima aksi dari verb (reciprocal action) pada suatu kalimat.

Example:

Everyone should love THEIRSELVES. (Semua orang harus mencintai diri mereka sendiri.)
